Date: 8 Nov 2009
Time: 9am-3pm
Venue: DBKL Community Centre, Seri Petaling, KL
Brief report:
Spending over many hours a day, once a week, twice the effort, thrice of speed to actually run this whole event with Leo City West and Leos from SMKDL. Not to mention how they spent their lovely sunday morning to get prepared with the clothes, bakery shop and games stalls while they could just lay back on bed and did nothing. Ha. Well done everyone. This bazaar actually took place at the DBKL Community Centre in Seri Petaling. It is the very first project Lions ever organized themselves. This project is in aid of the LIONS EYE CLINIC in Jalan Elmu, Petaling Jaya and THE KL RENAL CENTRE in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.
The project was messy at the beginning since part of the plan could not be done with another event going on the night before. Lions Club of Sri Petaling made it through with the assistance of Leo Club of City West to ensure the stalls and schedule runs accordingly. Blood donation was held at the entrance of the hall. Hundreds of family and friends went to donate blood, purchasing food and items to show their support for the project.
Lion Datuk Danny Ooi made an appearance and greet the neighborhood by starting the engine of a quad bike. It demonstrates that there are still love and care amongst human, it may not be everyone but at least some of us took up the challenge to beat the impossible. Proud of be part of the Lions and Leos family. There were speech given by Guest of Honour, YB Teresa Kok, OC for this Bazaar, Lion Jeanna Tan and President Officer of Lions Club of KL Seri Petaling, Lion Alex. They officially launched the bazaar after Ribbon-cutting ceremony by GOH,YB Teresa Kok.
The bazaar was a success. Our bakery shop sponsored by Chef Daniel from Silver Bakery School sold almost all of his bread and all the profit donated 100% to the charity fund. Few items were left over, we donated some of them to the orphanage in favor of the Lions and People of Sri Petaling. Although we were exhausted, but we were happy to be part of it.
